A PRESENTATION ceremony was held for 22 Warrington people who have completed training as community researchers.
The event, held at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, also marked the contribution they have made by carrying out research projects as part of their training.
Certificates were presented by Coun Liz Smith, the borough council’s executive member for neighbourhoods and communities, Jane Critchley, council neighbourhood manager and Warrington Wolves and England star Ben Westwood.
The council has been working with a company called Mind the Gap to train residents as community researchers who then work with residents to look at issues which are used to develop the local area plans and priorities.
The volunteers were recruited from community groups across Warrington, as part of the Stronger Together Neighbourhoods in Warrington initiative.
They attended a five day training session giving them skills on interview techniques and different ways of identifying the local issues.
The community researchers will be a valuable resource that different organisations, such as Warrington Wolves and NHS Warrington, can also commission to work on projects.
