Japanese restaurant approved

BOROUGH planning chiefs have given the go-ahead for a new Japanese restaurant.
The eatery – which will involve the change of use of a vacant shop – will be in West Avenue, Stockton Heath and will have capacity for about 40 diners.
Local councillors Celia Jordan and Sue Dodd had objected to the proposal on the grounds of possible noise, smells and impact on residents’ amenity.
They also feared traffic problems caused by delivery vehicles.
Three neighbours also objected on similar grounds – but planning chiefs decided there would be no significant harm caused to the amenity of nearby houses.
