A HIGH-profile tour of shops in Warrington was carried out to see how the retail sector could be improved,
The fact-finding mission was undertaken by councillors Jo Crotty, Paul Campbell and Mike Biggin, Nick White, town centre manager, and Helen Stanley, overview and scrutiny officer.
The tour, organised by the Economy and Resources Overview and Scrutiny Committee, was to look at what the council can do to help improve town centre shops over the next 12 months.
Shops were visited and retailers quizzed, to see what could be done to tempt more shoppers into the town centre.
The team visited Warrington Market and Bridge Street to look at the difficulties faced in the area. They then went to the Cockhedge shopping centre and Golden Square.
Key issues indentified will form a report to the committee on December 2.
Coun Crotty said: “Our tour was extremely informative.
“We have come away with a number of action points and hope to move forward with them as soon as possible.”
