CATERING students at Warrington Collegiate will be serving up a feast fit for heroes when they host a special charity dinner in aid of the national “Help for Heroes” charity.
Coinciding with Remembrance Day, the dinner will raise money for the charity, which provides support for men and women wounded in the Armed Forces.
Staff and students decided to host a dinner inspired by heroes past and present, using recipes from the newly published “Help for Heroes” cook book, in order to raise money for the charity.
The book features recipes that celebrities, chefs, veterans and current servicemen would like to feed their heroes.
Students have chosen a diverse selection of recipes from the book, including roast vegetable and puff pastry tart from veteran Simon Weston, and raspberry pavlova from Air Commodore Charles Clarke, president of the RAF Ex-POW’s Association.
The dinner, held as part of National Colleges Week, which encourages colleges to host community events, will be at the Collegiate’s Buckley’s restaurant on Wednesday November 11 and will give the students a chance to practice the skills they have learnt on their catering and hospitality course.
