Charity offers grants

A CHARITY that raises about £15,000 a year from businesses in Warrington is looking for small local groups to benefit from its cash.
Warrington Charities Trust has been running for about 20 years. It raises money from the local business community, and makes grants to small, struggling charities and voluntary organisations.
Secretary Val Dabbs said: “We help groups such as those looking after sick children, the homeless and playgroups. These type of groups often have difficulty raising money from the public.”
Groups helped include those offering sports for juniors and the tea and toast club for the homeless at Bold Street Methodist Church.
The fund offers grants of between £100 and £1,000 and grants are awarded at Christmas and in the summer. Deadline for the Christmas batch is November 9 and anyone interested can get an application form from Val on 01942 673377.
