OLDER people in Warrington are being advised to keep warm and safe as cold weather moves in during the winter.
A Winter Warm campaign encouraging people over the age of 55 to stay warm, well and safe during the cold season was launched at the Gateway, Sankey Street.
It included market stalls, complementary therapy taster sessions and workshops on the digital TV switchover, energy saving tips and tips on avoiding counterfeit goods.
Visitors over 65 were also offered the flu vaccine and a winter health check up.
Jannette Norton, Flu and Healthy Ageing Project co-ordinator for NHS Warrington, said: “Winter Warm is a fantastic fun event for older people.”
She said the focus was on keeping well and active with activities including mini-massages and chair-based tap dancing, together with information on activities for older people.
Free Winter Warm calendars were also given out which offer a comprehensive directory of services in Warrington and a room thermometer.
