Crime quite low say police

SERIOUS crime in the Appleton area was relatively low during September according to police.
PCSO Dave Mahon told Appleton Parish Council there had been four burglaries in the area, one assault and four cases of criminal damage, which was lower than in previous months.
Car crime was also lower -just six motor related thefts, which included two car number plates being stolen – but the PCSO team has increased their patrols of Stretton due to residents concerns about car damage.
PCSO Mahon said he and the rest of his team had been out talking to elderly residents about the risks of “distraction” theft, where criminals try to gain entry to someone’s home by showing false ID.
He said: “We’ve been out and about reminding people to check the ID of every visitor that knocks on the door and we’ve been stopping and questioning any person that looks or is acting suspiciously.”
The council also agreed that the PCSO team are a valuable resource to the area and has decided to support them financially for the next three years.
