FIRE crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled a blaze in a ground floor flat at Warrington early today.
The fire was in Church Street, near to the Sainsbury superstore and was discovered at about 12.30am.
A smoke alarm – fitted previously by the fire brigade – activated and aroused the occupant who escaped from the premises and raised the alarm.
Firefighters used a hosereel jet to extinguish the fire, which was in a bedroom, and then used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property. No-one was hurt.
