Mums on a downward slide!

MUMS using the recreation area of Walton Hall and Gardens were dubbed “crazy” by a councillor.

Coun Sonia Boggan told Stockton Heath Parish Council she had seen

mothers with young children on their knee, using the slides at the park.

“I have seen one or two mums going down the slide with young children on their knee – this is a dangerous activity,” she said.

“A lot of these are very young mums – it is crazy. It is ridiculous as they could be in an accident going down the slide.”

She asked whether there was a warden at the park who could be asked to stop mothers using the slides.

But Coun Tudor Pole defended the mothers and said it was a safe activity.

“I remember my mum taking me down a slide like that,” he said.

  1. if the mother had simply taken the young child to the top and then let them slide down on their own she would have had up for child neglect and be up in court facing a prison sentence by now.

had there been an incident then i am sure that any mother would have put the safety of the child first by shielding them from harm no matter what personal injury they would receive themselves.

i suppose that the solution would be to ban all children and young mothers from the CHILDREN’S play area. that way it would avoid any such potential dangers occuring.

  2. The cllr needs to get a life. Children are OVER-protected these days and don’t know what pain is. Childhood is part of the toughening up process to deal with life later on, not being wrapped up in cotton wool.

  3. Oh dear… another idiot in public office!! Doesn’t this jumped up civil servant realise that the mums probably drove them to Walton Gardens (dangerous activity the driving; better ban that) and pushed the child in a pram across a public road to get to the playground (OMG did she do a risk assessment before doing that!!??)

Whoever this over zealous fool represents, she needs to be voted out at the next election and replaced from someone from the common sense brigade.

    Whatever next??

  4. Oooh…. sorry but I often took my son (and neices/nephew for that matter) down slides whilst sat on my knee when they were too young to do it safely themselves. I did the same with the swings, see-saw and roundabouts. I’m sure my parents often did the same with us when we were little too. It was called having fun 🙁

I guess people have different views on whether they think it is right or not and as such it should just remain a personal VIEW and not a public RULE 🙂
