MARKET traders in Warrington raised more than £1,100 for the town’s Alzheimer’s Society when they held a charity auction.
Traders donated goods for the sale. A signed rugby ball from Warrington Wolves proved a big attraction and was auctioned for £81.
Visitors were entertained with music, a bird of prey display by local enthusiast John Taylor and an art exhibition by Trafford Art Group.
Market manager Stephen Pickering said: “On the day of the auction there was a great atmosphere at the market and I feel its success reinforced how much the market traders are part of the local community.”
A similar charity auction is planned as part of the market’s Christmas programme of activities.
