Mystery of Italian flag hidden in church cellar

THE mystery of why a 19th century Italian flag was hidden in the cellar of a Warrington church years ago may be solved when it goes on show at an exhibition later this month.
Latchford History Group are to hold the local history exhibition in the Christ Church schoolrooms, Wash Lane, Latchford on Saturday, June 22, 11am to 4pm.
The group are now custodians of the archives of the Loushers Lane Memories Group and the exhibition, a tribute to the Memories Group, will include photographs, maps, books and memories of Loushers Lane and Wash Lane, together with other historic items from the Latchford area.
Barbara Worrall, chairman of the Latchford History Group said: “We will have on display a large Italian flag from the nineteenth century recently discovered in the cellar of Christ Church.
“We are hoping someone might solve the mystery of who put it there and why it was hidden.”
Admission to the exhibition will be free and refreshments will be available.
