A dream come true for bride’s mum Jean

IT was a dream come true for 93-year-old Jean Mannion when she saw her daughter Elizabeth marry husband Tony.
She had not expected to be able to see the ceremony because it was taking place in Harrogate and illness prevented Jean from travelling from her home in Warrington.
But Elizabeth and Tony solved her problem for her – they brought the wedding, complete with registrar, guests, cake and bridal gown to the Belong care village where Jean now lives.
There were 25 guests, including Jean’s best friend of 75 years, Peggy Sanson.
They watched the happy couple exchange vows beneath an archway of flowers at the end of a decorated aisle.
The village community rallied around to make the day as special as possible, providing a photographer and videographer to capture the ceremony too,
Speaking of wedding number two, bride Elizabeth, said: “Not many people would re-run their wedding ceremony in the space of two weeks, but it was so important to us that mum got to be part of our special day. We are overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of everyone at Belong, without them we couldn’t have made this happen. I know we will all treasure the memories of this truly wonderful day forever.”
