Garden centre is best in North West

WARRINGTON garden centre Bents Garden and Home has again been awarded the title “Best in the North West” by the Garden Centre Association.
This means the centre – currently holder of the “UK’s Best Garden Centre” title – is on course to retain the national title next year.
The Glazebury centre was also presented with a further four regional titles: Best Restaurant; Best Gardening Retailer; Best Plant Department; and Best Garden Centre Team.
It featured in the top three in seven of the eight categories available.
Managing director Matthew Bent said: “We are particularly proud of our achievement this year as there has been strong competition from a number of brand new, purpose built garden centres in the region. We are always looking to re-invent ourselves and add value to the Bents’ experience and I think the Best in the North West award reflects our success in achieving this aim.”
The North West titles come following the Garden Centre Association’s 2009 audit process which has scored Bents at 89.69 per cent – a figure that is already above its winning total in last year’s national audit.
It also achieved 17 Awards of Merit for categories as diverse as the centre’s entrance, Food Hall, quality of the website and telephone service.
Awards of Merit are awarded to those audit categories that achieve a score of 85% or over and Bents achieved this in 17 out of the 21 categories available.
Bents are now waiting to hear if they will be reassessed for next year’s national title, which will be announced in January.
