Floral design for beginners

A SERIES of floral design demonstrations and workshops will be launched at Warrington’s Walton Hall on Sunday, September 13 with two “introduction to floristry” demonstrations for complete beginners.
The initiative comes as a result of a collaboration between Warrington Borough Council and Myerscough College’s Short Course Unit.
Beginners interested in learning about floristry will receive demonstrations from expert tutors who will demonstrate specific designs and guide participants through the construction method.
The morning demonstration will run from 11am till 12.30pm and the afternoon demonstration will run 1.30pm till 3pm. Each session costs £15 per person.
Following these there will be a “Hand Tied Designs” Workshop on Sunday September 27 – a one day workshop aimed at individuals who already have some experience of floral art.
Designs to be created throughout the day include Hand Tied in Aqua, a Limited Hand Tied Bouquet and a Salix Hand Tied. The workshop will begin at 10am and last until 4pm. The cost is £85 per person, which includes all flowers.
Finally there will be a “Contemporary Christmas Floral Design” workshop on Sunday November 29. Designs to be created include a Door Wreath, a Candle Arrangement and a Modern Table Arrangement. Once again, this workshop will run from 10am till 4pm and is aimed at individuals who have a decent level of experience in floral art. The cost is £85 per person, which includes all flowers.
All the courses will be held in the Walton Hall Studio, which is part of the stables complex of the estate.
Colin Todhunter, Myerscough’s Short Course Unit Manager, said: “The four courses we are holding have proved very popular when we have run them at other venues in the past and we are glad that we have found such a suitable venue in the Warrington area and a working partnership with the council.”
