Jazz in church

LYMM-based big band Dr Jazz and the Cheshire Cats are going to church – in concert.
The band, which was one of the hits of this year’s Stockton Heath Festival, will be performing live in Stockton Heath Methodist Church on October 10 to help raise money for the church redevelopment fund.
A meal will precede the concert and tickets – £4 for the concert, £6 with the meal – can be obtained from Kit on 01925 268425 or Sue on 01925 261802. The meal is at 6.45pm and the concert starts at 7.30pm.
The 20-strong band was formed in 2002 by musical director Dr Catherine Tackley, currently a lecturer in music at the Open University, and features a number of players from the nationally acclaimed North Cheshire Wind Orchestra. The majority of the members come from the Warrington area.
