WARRINGTON woke up to the first snowfall of the year this morning as a light dusting over night left attractive winter scenes.
With a Yellow weather warning in place for the next three days for snow and ice it will be a cold and icy start for many, with sunny spells and occasional wintry showers, leaving a covering of snow in places. The showers will gradually ease later this afternoon.
Frost will quickly return this evening. Maximum temperature 4 °C.
Isolated wintry showers may continue but it will be mainly dry and very cold under often clear skies. Some icy stretches will develop and possibly patchy freezing fog. Minimum temperature -8 °C.
Tomorrow, Thursday, after frosty start it should be a dry morning with sunny spells. Cloudier and windier in the afternoon with a risk of outbreaks of snow. Maximum temperature 3 °C.
The Outlook for Friday to Sunday is Cold on Friday, with outbreaks of sleet and snow clearing to leave a dry afternoon. Largely dry and cold Saturday. Overnight frosts. Rain spreading from the west later Sunday.
