A POEM about Warrington could win £1,000 in a free poetry competition.
Publishers United Press Ltd are again running their annual competition, open to all UK residents, for poems about home towns or villages.
The best poem will win £1,000 cash and entrants can send up to three entries, which must be no more than 20 lines and 160 words each.
Address to send entries is “Local Poem”, United Press Ltd., Admail 3735, London, EC1B 1JB.
A United Press spokesman said: “The poem can be about something or someone from the poet’s home area. We find that poems written from personal observation and experience are the most heartfelt and expressive, so we’re expecting some great entries from Warrington.
“The contest is designed to encourage the man (or woman) in the street to write poetry – to both express themselves and be more creative.”
Last year’s winner was from Oxford and previous winners came from Stafford and Rotherham. Closing date is December 31.
