NHS staff in Warrington have been praised for their “incredibly hard” work during the swine flu pandemic.
Andrew Burgess, chief executive of NHS Warrington, praised the teams of staff and pharmacists who have been manning an anti-viral collection point at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington.
Numbers collecting the medication for swine flu have fallen steadily over the past two weeks, but at its height collection points in the area dealt with 314 people in one day.
Mr Burgess said: “People worked incredibly hard to get the anti-viral collection points open in the first place, and have pulled out all the stops to provide an efficient service for the public.
“The running of the centre has been made possible by the stadium staff at Warrington Wolves and the backroom staff here. Their support and dedication has been phenomenal and they have gone the extra mile to ensure the efficiency of the centre.”
Numbers collecting the medication in Warrington have dropped to an average of 56 a day.
Mr Burgess added: “As the number of swine flu cases decreases, the message is that members of the public need to continue to use their own judgment and be vigilant for other illnesses that may start with flu-like symptoms.
“If you are diagnosed as having swine flu but your condition suddenly deteriorates or fails to improve after a few days, telephone your GP for advice.”
