Fallen soldier is flown home

THE body of Fusilier Simon Annis, the Warrington soldier who died in Afghanistan on Sunday, has been flown home.
Fusilier Annis, aged 22, a former Culcheth High School pupil. died with his colleague Fusilier Louis Carter, aged 18, of Nuneaton, while trying to save Lance Corporal James Fullarton.
Their bodies were flown back to RAF Lyneham, together with that of 24-year-old Sergeant Simon Valentine, aged 29, from Bedworth, will be flown back to RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire for a ceremony today.
Sgt Valentine died on Saturday in a separate incident.
The bodies of all four servicemen were taken through the nearby town of Wootton Bassett, where hundreds of local people line the streets whenever fallen servicemen or women are flown home..
Fusilier Annis had been married to his wife Caroline only six months before his death.
He died along with Fusilier Carter while trying to serve their section commander, Lance Corporal Fullarton, who had been injured, while on patrol in Helmand, on Sunday.
