Lucky omen for Wolves?

WARRINGTON Wolves’ name could already be on the Challenge Cup if you believe in lucky omens or fate.
By an amazing coincidence the shield on the cup where this year’s Wembley winners will have their name engraved, is directly below a very familiar name with all Warrington Wolves’ fans – Alex Murphy, the last Warrington skipper to lift the cup 35 years ago in 1974, when the Wire defeated Featherstone Rovers at Wembley.
The coincidence was spotted by an eagle-eyed Wolves’ fan at the Ryland retirement village.
Meanwhile win or lose the Wolves will be given a home coming parade and civic reception.
The parade will leave the Halliwell Jones Stadium at approximately 4.00pm on Sunday, August 30, on route to the Town Hall and the streets listed will be closed to traffic when required between 2pm-7pm.
Winwick Road (From A49 to Pinners Brow), Buckley Street, Winwick Street, Scotland Road, Academy Street, Academy way, Friars Gate, Barbauld Street,
Wilson Patten Street, Winmarleigh Street and finally Sankey Street.
Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term “vehicle” and must not be ridden through any of the above named streets during the hours specified.
Any person wilfully acting in contravention of the above Order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.
The cup has been on its travels throughout the week visiting various locations including the offices of warrington-worldwide and the council’s waste and recycling depot in Woolston.
The Wolves Foundation has toured the cup around town, giving local businesses and their employees the chance to raise the cup!
