YOUNG volunteers from across Warrington will be taking over the Peace Centre to host a special event this Wednesday, August 26.
The A-achieve C-celebrate E-experience (ACE) event will bring together staff and young people from the three organisations; The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, NSPCC and Warrington Youth Club, to work together in the planning and delivery of workshops and the management of this unique youth led day.
ACE is a free event ran by young people for young people which provides opportunities for children and young people to experience new activities and to celebrate their achievements and talents.
Children and young people aged 7-20 years will be invited to participate in a wide variety of workshops running between 12noon and 5pm.
These workshops will be delivered by young volunteers and will include aspects of sport, art and music; from football to problem solving, painting to circus skills, there will be something for all ages to enjoy. These workshops will be followed by a free barbeque and mini showcase session.
In the evening between 6-8pm there will be a showcase for young people aged 11-20 to recognise and celebrate the achievements and talents of young people in Warrington and will include local bands along with performances from some of the workshops held on the day.
Event lead volunteer Gemma Benns said: ”ACE is a great opportunity for young people in Warrington to participate in new activities and to show what they are capable of. We are really keen to attract people from across the town to let them know just what happens here at the Peace Centre. With all the hard work and efforts so far – it should be a great day”.
Kelly Simcock, Programme Manager for Youth and communities at the Foundation for Peace said: “The past few months has seen a dedicated team of young people working hard to bring this event to their peers. It is truly inspiring to see that in an age where young people are given such negative press-we have so many challenging that stereotype through projects such as this.”
To get involved in this exciting event please book your place by emailing [email protected] or phone the ACE booking line on 01925 581 227 and leave your name and contact number or pop in to the Peace Centre to find out more!
