MORE than £400 was raised by an NSPCC “Pirate Family Fun Day” held at The Village Club, Culcheth.
The event was organised by Rose Swift, 19, of Culcheth, who had heard about the charity’s work and decided to help. She rallied friends and family and organised the day, which was attended by more than 100 people.
Barbara Laycock, chairman of Croft Culcheth, Winwick and Risley NSPCC, said: “She deserves a lot of praise. For those in the community who run down young people, she is a shining example of all that is good.”
Many visitors dressed as pirates and the day included quizzes, games, bouncy castle, face painting, stalls and a raffle.
There was also dancing from the Revive Dance School who encouraged people to join in dance and exercise.
Barbara said this year is the NSPCC’s 125th anniversary and money is being raised for the Child’s Voice Appeal – to provide enough money for all calls to be answered when a child is in trouble.
Fun day for pirate families!
