Nine set to miss Wigan re-match

RECALLED players Kevin Penny and Steve Pickersgill, who enjoyed Northern Rail Cup success during their loan period at Widnes, go straight into Warrington Wolves 19-man squad for round 24 of engage Super League XIV against Wigan Warriors, at The DW Stadium, this Friday, August 14, kick-off 8pm.
They have been drafted in to boost the squad with nine players missing through injury.
Mickey Higham – torn bicep, Brian Carney – broken arm, Paul Wood – broken leg, Simon Grix – shoulder, Matt King – hamstring, Jon Clarke – ankle, Garreth Carvell – rib, Chris Hicks – finger and Ben Harrison – quad muscle, all miss the re-match with Wigan.
But young winger Chris Riley has recovered after being stretchered from the field following a blow to the head and is likely to play.
Head of Coaching Tony Smith said: “It is not a case of resting players for Wembley. Making the top eight is equally as important and this game gives some of the other players the chance of being in the squad for Wembley.”
