Town has got local talent

WARRINGTON Town FC will have plenty of local talent on display when they kick start their new season at home to Clitheroe this Saturday, August 15, kick off 3pm.
The squad will contain at least five Warrington based players, led by new club Captain Mike Tomlinson, who is resurrecting his career after serious injury.
Skipper Tomlinson, a central defender, rejoined manager Joey having started his career in Runcorn’s reserves at 16 with Joey as manager. He went on to have a distinguished career in non league -moving from Runcorn to Vauxhall Motors where he earned England Semi-professional honours, later joining Burscough where he won a Unibond championship winners medal.
Also from Warrington is former Lymm High School student Richard Chetcuti, (pictured left) a young striker with international honours as an Under 21 Maltese Youth International who joined the club in last season and looks to have a promising future.
Meanwhile Chris Gaghan (pictured right) is an ex-Beamont High student who is a prolific striker/winger who joined in mid season last year. He has previously played for Northwich Victoria among a number of other clubs and was the club’s top scorer last season.
Phil Hadland was one of Town’s most consistent performers throughout last season culminating in an impressive appearance ratio. He is a tireless worker and also capable of scoring a few goals and a firm favourite with the fans.
Finally young midfielder Darren Kinsey has returned to Town’s ranks for a second spell. He has featured strongly in pre season games in 2009 and is the son of a former Town legend Ian Kinsey a member of the team which played in the FA Vase Final in 1987.
New signings include defender Anthony Filipek, who made one first team appearance in 2007-08, featuring heavily in the reserves, Midfielder Eddie Taylor, a vastly experienced centre midfield player who was captain of Prescot for many years, a member of their successful team which won promotion from North West Counties, attacking midfielder Martin Smeatin from AFC Liverpool, while striker Karl Connolly had a distinguished career in the football league with amongst others QPR, and has played for the past couple of seasons at Prescot. Also making his debut is Midfielder Steve Williams who joined during the close season.
Unfortunately the club will be without their brand new Diamond Jubilee yellow and blue kit, which was destroyed in the fire at local suppliers Touchline Embroidery.
The club has been given permission by the Unibon League to play their homes games in their all red change kit until the new kit can be delivered, which will be mid September.

Saturdays likely squad: Mottram, Fillipek, Kinsey, Tomlinson, Fitzsimmons, Hadland, Grogan, Taylor, Dutton, Gaghan, McCarthy, Chetcuti, Smeaton, Connolly, Williams, Daniels
