Residents to meet the police

POLICE are to hold a Community Action Meeting at Whittle Hall, Warrington on August 20.
Residents will be able to meet local police officers and Police Community Support Officers at Whittle Hall Community Centre at 7.30pm.
They will be able to discuss any issues or concerns they might have – while at the same time helping to play a part in deciding the priorities for local officers for the coming weeks.
PCSO Leanne Gover said: “This is a great opportunity for residents to meet their local officers face-to-face and discuss any issues or concerns.
“This is your opportunity to tell those who work in your community what concerns you in your neighbourhood. Letting us know about any problems allows local officers to really get to grips with what is happening in the area and to come up with the best ways of dealing with any issues.”
During the meeting officers will be giving feedback on what they have done to target issues raised at the previous meeting. The main priorities included litter and parking.
Officers will also be giving residents an update on the work that has been taking place in Mary Ann Meadows to combat issues with anti-social behaviour, nuisance youths and underage drinking.
A special operation has been launched in the area to address issues raised by local residents – and this will run throughout the summer holidays.
Officers have stepped up patrols in the Mary Ann Meadows area after complaints from residents.
Locals said they are concerned about groups of youths congregating in the area, drinking alcohol, being noisy and acting in an anti-social manner.
PCSO Gover added: “We are aware that this is an issue that is having an effect on the quality of life of residents in the local area.
“We will not tolerate any sort of behaviour that has a negative impact on the quality of life of the local community and residents can rest assured that we will continue to take positive action where necessary.”
