Massive boost for house building

HOUSE building projects in Warrington – stalled by the recession – have been given a massive boost by the Government.
The town will receive a total of £13,460,000 for housing development through the Government’s “Kickstart” programme.
Almost 400 new homes will be built in six projects over the next two years – many of them affordable homes for families.
The Kickstart programme is intended to help developers overcome financial and operational barriers and in doing so unlock developments proposing high quality and affordable homes.
The borough council has worked hard to secure the funding, which will also provide a welcome boost for the construction industry and their supply chains by safeguarding and creating local jobs.
Coun Keith Bland, (pictured) deputy leader of the council, said: “This financial support is brilliant news for the town in every way – it will bring real jobs in the field of construction which as we all know has faltered of late and will also result in additional homes, many of which will be affordable, for local residents.
“I am very pleased to report that in the North West only Manchester and Liverpool received more funding than Warrington, which I really think highlights the growing confidence in and status of the town in the region.”
A total of £925m funding will eventually go to 270 projects across England.
