A WARRINGTON fund created to give grants to local community groups has awarded its 60th grant.
The Grassroots Grant fund, administered by Warrington Council for Voluntary Services (CVS), awarded £2,000 to Birchwood Partnership.
Since launching in September the fund has given more than £80,000 in grants to community and voluntary groups to help them deal with challenges in their local community.
Birchwood Partnership was formed in 2004 bringing together all sectors of the community to make Birchwood a better place to work, live and progress.
Partnership projects over the next year include the Oakwood Gate garden rejuvenation, a young people’s summer project, a community tidy-up and Christmas in the community.
Partnership chairman Russ Bowden said: “The Grassroots Grant funding is much appreciated and helps support our everyday work. Grant funds such as this also help to gain private sector support, which reinforces our motto of Business and Community, Working Together.”
Nigel Bacon, CVS chief executive, said: “This is the 60th grant we have issued and it is contributing to making a difference in the community, the involvement of the private sector is key to continuing with the Grassroots scheme.”
