Flats plan rejected

A PLAN to convert a house into two flats has been rejected by a government-appointed inspector – because of the “significant oversupply of housing” in Warrington.
The property is in Wallis Street, Latchford and borough council development control chiefs refused to grant planning consent last year.
Now the inspector has thrown out an appeal.
He says the addition of even a single dwelling adds to the oversupply of housing in the borough and would be harmful.
Although the appellant claimed the additional dwelling would have a low cost, affordable rent, the inspector said it did not fall within the definition of affordable housing and there was no evidence to show how it would remain “affordable” in the future.
