A WARRINGTON student has won the Institution of Civil Engineers “Most Promising Civil Engineer of the North West” award at The Contribution to the Business Awards in Manchester.
Nathan Somerset, who is currently on a student gap placement with GHA Livigunn through The Year in Industry Scheme, beat 75 others to the award.
He will now be entered into the National Year in Industry
Contribution to the Business Awards competition in London next month.
For the award Nathan, a former Priestley College student, submitted a tender he prepared for a client on Crosby Marine Lake.
Competition organisers felt it demonstrated his growing contribution to GHA Livigunn and showcased the benefits to the business in offering work placements.
He will soon leave the company to start a degree in Civil and Architectural Engineering at the University of Salford.
Nathan said: “I feel extremely privileged to win such a prestigious award. This last year has been challenging and it’s a good feeling to receive an award at the end.”
