No extra parking at restaurant?

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are being urged to refuse permission for additional car parking at a popular restaurant.
The proposal involves changes to the layout of the car park at the Duckegg Bluu restaurant in Warrington Road, Culcheth to provide an extra five parking spaces.
It comes before the borough council’s development control committee next week.
Councillors will be told the applications suggests business is being affected because of a shortage of parking in Culcheth.
But officers point out that a planning inspector in 2004 ruled that a similar proposal would had a significant adverse impact on nearby residents.
Although a fence, wall or landscaping could reduce the impact, noise and disturbance were still likely to have an unacceptable impact on the houses.
Three nearby residents have objected to the plan.

  1. 2004 was five years ago and Mrs Lythgoes Parking Clampers and further developments in Culcheth mean that there is a greater need for more parking (without the expense and fear of being clamped). The local councillors are making a mockery of things with their anti-approach to parking in the village and ignore requests for change. Having eaten at the Duckegg Bluu this Thursday evening I was very happy to be able to park in there car park safely. I hope that planners see sense this time, they should be encouraging business.

  2. I have just been informed by someone reading the above that when the restaurant got its original planning permission it agreed to build a ‘buffer zone’ to lessen any noise.

Maybe this work should be completed before any further planning permission is considered !!!

It does beg the question ‘What happened to the oringinal plans for the buffer zone or garden and why didn’t the planners check what had been done/not done?’
