Tackling childhood obesity

1

TEACHERS in Warrington are being given special training in a bid to tackle childhood obesity.
So far 20 teachers have completed the training and more will follow. A DVD has been produced on how to tackle the issue of childhood obesity in the classroom.
The food partnership training scheme is a programme to help primary school teachers develop work with food education as a key learning activity.
It is one of the ways the borough council, schools and other government agencies are working to try to reduce the levels of childhood obesity both nationally and locally.
Nationally there is a prediction that 25 per cent of under 16’s will be obese by 2050.
More information and a copy of the DVD is available from Suzette Kelly in the council’s healthy schools team on 01925 443913 or email [email protected]
