Benefit cheat must repay £3,000

A 38-year-old woman received a 60-hour community punishment and been ordered to repay benefits totalling £3,198 when she appeared before Warrington Magistrates.
Joanne Lawless, of Snowberry Crescent, Great Sankey, was also ordered to pay £200 costs.
She admitted benefit fraud.
The court was told the woman failed to declare that she had a partner living with her from June 2007 until August last year and was subsequently overpaid housing benefit of £2,137, council tax benefit of £228 and income support of £833 – making a total of £3,198.
