Law firm building evacuated following release of unknown substance

THE offices of a Warrington law firm were evacuated on Friday afternoon following the release of an unknown substance.

Emergency Services attended at the premises of Restons Solicitors at Mandarin Court, Centre Park, Warrington at 15.53.

Two fire engines attended – one from Warrington and one from Greater Manchester, after firefighters were called to reports of an unknown substance being released in a first floor locker room.

The building was evacuated and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet on the substance.

The crews could find no signs of gas or odours.

Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for heat sources and ventilated the property before declaring it safe.

They were in attendance for more than an hour.

In another incident at 16.01 two fire engines attended a kitchen fire at Mckinley Street, Great Sankey, Warrington

On arrival the crews discovered that all persons were accounted for and that the fire was caused by food being left attended as it was cooking.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used water to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.

Crews then used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots and make sure that the property was safe.

Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour.
