WARRINGTON Housing Association held a tea party to get generations together during the school summer holidays.
The free event was held by Warrington Housing Association at one of their schemes, Lyons Court, Latchford, with support from the organisation’s LifeTime service that provides activities and events for those aged 50 and above.
More than 25 people from across the town came together to meet new friends over tea, coffee and cake – during national Afternoon Tea Week.
Jasmine Hayes, aged 8 from Penketh, attended with her grandad Derek. She said: “The afternoon was amazing.”
Andrea Rees, LifeTime officer for Warrington Housing Association (WHA), said: “Here at WHA, we know how important it is to form friendships to live healthy lives – that’s why we planned our intergenerational afternoon tea party, where Warrington folk, old and young, enjoyed tea, cake and a chat.
“Hearing the conversations that the different generations were having was lovely. Friendships can be formed no matter what your age difference and we can all learn new things from each other, whether that is the young teaching the old about new technologies and trends, or the old passing on their life experience to the younger generations.
“Our aim from events like this is to bring a sense of a community back into Warrington to help to make Warrington a happy and safe place to live and we will look forward to continuing with this work.”
