School's Apprentice challenge

BUDDING entrepreneurs from a Warrington school took part in an “Apprentice” style challenge.
Penketh High School pupils posed as competing catering companies and had to put in a bid to cater for a social club function.
They were given financial advice for the challenge by Juliet Hardy-Wilson from NatWest.
During the day 270 Year 10 pupils divided into groups to tender for the contract. They planned and designed menus and the supply and serving of the food, before being judged on their ability to present and deliver a project on time and to budget.
It was part of an Enterprise Day and the bank’s MoneySense for Schools project and aimed to help develop business skills and teach pupils the basics of running a business.
Teacher Christina Myers said: “This has been a great activity, which the young people have really enjoyed. It’s very important that they gain basic money management skills and have the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial and creative abilities.
“This activity was an extremely practical and fun way of doing this and brought alive what happens in real life. We can’t thank Juliet and NatWest enough for making such a wonderful programme available to our pupils and for coming along to help us deliver it.”
