40mph speed limit for pop festival

A TEMPORARY 40mph speed limit is to be introduced on the A56 near Warrington because of construction works associated with the Creamfields pop festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The restriction will be effective from Saturday, August 15 for three weeks.
It will apply between the borough boundary with Halton and the junctions with Old Chester Road and Runcorn Road.
Originally it was intended to apply a 20mph limit on the road but the order the borough council is now intending to impose will be for a 40mph limit.
Temporary one-way traffic orders will also be applied to a number of side roads in the area.
Local residents have campaigned against the festival taking place at all, but Halton Borough Council granted a licence for it to take place on land owned by Lord Daresbury, as in previous years.
