DEVELOPERS want to change the use of a property granted planning consent only last year – before it has even been completed.
An application has been submitted to Warrington’s development control committee for permission to convert a shop and flat to a restaurant/takeaway and offices in Common Lane, Culcheth.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council has objected to the proposal.
Originally the property was in residential use. But in November last year permission was granted for a two-bedroom apartment and office on the first floor and two shops on the ground floor.
In March this year, an application to change the shops to a restaurant/takeaway was refused.
Now a new application which removes the residential element from the first floor has been submitted – although work has started on building it. The applicant says if the event of the plan being refused he will revert to scheme approved last November.
Planning officers are recommending the new application be approved.
The restaurant/takeaway was refused previously because of its poor relationship with the first floor apartment and this has now been removed.
Change…and change again!
