New science block for high school

PLANS for a single-storey science block, providing 11 new laboratories, at Great Sankey High School, has been given the go-ahead by Warrington planners.
The new building will occupy a site currently occupied by buildings used by the former Barrow Hall Primary School which are expected to be demolished later this summer.
Members of the borough’s development management committee were told the new block would provide up-to-date facilities at the high school, and together with existing and proposed new buildings, would form a central plaza feature, with a high quality outside space.
The new entrance to the science block is designed so as to draw pupils through the site towards the entrance plaza to create a well frequented and attractive outdoor space.
The floor level of the new building will be raised to allow for flood risk and forecast climate chance.
