It's Walking Day!

THOUSANDS of people – walkers and spectators – were converging on Warrington town centre this morning for the annual Walking Day.
The Walk was due to start at 10.30am – and weather forecasters were predicting heavy rain at 10am. So an anxious eye was being kept on the grey skies which had replaced yesterday’s blue.
Town centre roads were being sealed off to traffic from 8.30am and the first walkers were expected to arrive on the Town Hall lawn around 10am. The inner town centre will be closed to traffic until around 1pm.
But for most of the time through traffic will be able to use an inner ring road consisting of Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Midland Way, Brick Street, Fennel Street, Mersey Street, Bridge Foot, Wilson Patten Street, Parker Street, Liverpool Road. But drivers should expect delays caused by walking groups making their way to the Town Hall until nearly 11am.
Warrington-Worldwide photographers and cameramen will be out and about among the crowds and pictures and videos of the Walk will feature on the site from later today.
