Green Belt plan approved

PLANNERS have given the go ahead for controversial farm buildings on a Green Belt site near Warrington.
Members of the borough council’s development control committee have approved plans for two steel-framed pitched roofed buildings – one for cattle and one for hay storage – on land adjacent to Dennow Farm, Firs Lane, Appleton.
Similar proposals were thrown out by planners last year on the grounds they were inappropriate in the Green Belt because they were not genuinely needed for agricultural purposes and were too close to Dennow Farm.
Applicants Eton Park Properties said there was now a genuine need – and that the buildings had been moved further away from Dennow Farm.
But Appleton Parish Council and planning consultants acting on behalf of the owner of Dennow Farm still objected.
They challenged the “need” for the buildings, claimed the proposals were not sufficiently detailed – and said the buildings were still too close to Dennow Farm.
They also argued that there was other, more suitable, land available nearby.
