TWO schools and a leisure centre, forced to stay closed today because of a power breakdown, will stay shut tomorrow (Friday).
Work on repairing the fault which has blacked out Great Sankey High School, Barrow Hall Primary School and Great Sankey Leisure Centre is taking longer than expected
A borough council spokeswoman said: “Unfortunately it will not be completed in time for the schools, or the leisure centre, to re-open tomorrow.”
The schools were evacuated when the fault occurred.
But Year 11, 12 or 13 candidates sitting public exams were told they should still report to the high school reception for both morning and afternoon exams.

Headteacher Alan Yates said: “In such circumstances, the safety of our children is paramount. We would like to commend our learners for the exemplary manner in which they followed school procedures and listened to the instructions of their teachers. This enabled everyone to leave the building calmly and safely. The school would also like to pass on it’s thanks to the fire service who arrived within minutes to offer assistance and to begin investigations.”
