A SPATE of early hours arson and vandalism is worrying police and fire service chiefs at Warrington.
Five wheelie bins were destroyed by fire early today in two separate incidents in the Orford area.
Three bins were torched in the Scott Street-Chorley Street area around 1.30am. Two more were set alight in Cabul Close at 3.30am.
This follows similae bin fires in Orford Park and Brickfield Park in the early hours of yesterday.
Police are checking CCTV cameras in the area to try and identify the culprits. Fire prevention officers are touring the area putting stickers on bins asking residents not to pur bins out overnight.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “It is only a matter of time before one of these incidents becomes much more serious, with damage to property and perhaps even a life threatening situation.
“We could only be delayed reaching a more serious incident because we are out dealing with these nuisance fires.”
