SUPERMAN and Bananaman entertained participants before the start of a 5km Fun Run at Warrington.
More than 260 competitors, many in fancy dress, enjoyed the carnival atmosphere at the annual Birchwood High School Fun Run.
Spokeswoman Karen Dyble said: “There was a fantastic community spirit as family, friends and colleagues all turned out to support the competitors, who ranged from youngsters under five, to more serious athletes.
“This year was particularly special as many competitors were running to raise money to enable a Bear Hugger Patient Warming Unit to be bought for Ben Brown, a pupil at the school, who has Hypothalamic Syndrome and a blood cell disease. As it was a warm sunny day, Ben was able to join in the fun and cheer the competitors across the finishing line.”
The event was organised by the School Association and running club Spectrum Striders. Overall winner was former pupil Liam Roche, with a time of 00:18:57.
