A summer of fun for youngsters

THOUSANDS of youngsters in Warrington can look forward to a summer of fun thanks to the borough council.
Its Summer Fun initiative will run throughout the school holidays in July and August, providing a host of activities for children and young people from the ages of 0 to 20.
Events planned include outdoor activities, arts and crafts, playgroups, sports and lots of fun workshops.
Free swimming will continue throughout the holidays at Select Leisure Centres. Other events include a picnic in the park at Bewsey, a chance to train with Warrington Wolves and opportunities to try circus skills, street dancing and cheerleading.
Those interested in helping the community can sign up for a volunteering course, first aid or coaching. The Museum and Art Gallery hosts its own creative programme and youngsters can try their hand at kite building or creating their very own creepy crawly!
Coun Sheila Woodyatt, executive member for Children’s Services, said: “Summer holidays can be quite stressful for parents and leave young people with time on their hands. We are delighted to be launching a programme of educational, stimulating and entertaining activity to keep everyone happy over the summer months.”
Full information will be published in the Summer Fun Brochure available from next month or by visiting www.warrington.gov.uk/summerfun or calling 01925 443131.
