MEMBERS of Stockton Heath Parish Council are worried that some of the village’s tree-lined roads could be under threat.
They heard that a member of neighbouring Walton Parish Council had expressed concern at the number of old and damaged trees being cut down by the borough council in roads such as West Avenue.
They decided to seek information on the borough’s policy on replacing trees.
Coun Liz Jewkes said: “Maybe we should be proactive and ask the council what they are going to do. The last thing we want is for them to turn up and just cut trees down.”
Clerk Peter Briggs said: “In West Avenue, the roots of some of the older trees are damaging the footpath.”
