FIRE crews extinguished a controlled fire on farmland at Great Sankey, Warrington because smoke was affecting a nearby road.
The blaze involved a quantity of logs, timber and hay measure about 10m x 10m and had been started by a farmer in a field near Shorwell Close.
Firefighters from Penketh consulted with the farmer and then made the decision to extinguish the blaze.
Crews were at the scene for approximately two hours yesterday.
