Canal boat circus makes a splash

BOAT crews and boats decked out in a circus theme gathered in Lymm for the 46th annual rally of the Federation of Bridgewater Cruising Clubs.
Crews from Worsley to Runcorn travelled to the village for the event, hosted by Lymm Cruising Club.
More than 220 boats attended for a weekend of fun and crews had the chance to meet old friends and take part in the entertainment.
Lots of people dressed as clowns to mark the theme and there was a large marquee decorated to match.
Activities included a dog show, Commodore’s games – many involved getting soaked in water – and music from Lymm Samba Band and Chadderton Brass Band.
In the evening boats were illuminated and sailed through the village watched by crowds of onlookers.
On Sunday there was a church service in the marquee, followed by an official sail-past for guests and visitors.
