Police band's three dates in town

CHESHIRE Police Band will visit Warrington three times this year in what they say is their busiest season for many years.
School concerts, transport festivals, parades, town centre performances, carol services and the finals of National Brass Band Championships are among more than 30 engagements the band will be undertaking this year.
In addition the band’s Corps of Drums are giving performances in their own right without the rest of the band.
“We are very busy performing across the whole of East and West Cheshire, Halton and Warrington,” said Inspector Dave Woollam, the band’s musical director.
“The engagements take the band from Warrington to Audlem, from Macclesfield to Neston, there is hardly any part of ‘Cheshire’ that we are not visiting this year”
“In addition, we will be competing at the National Brass Band Championship finals in September so, all in all, a busy year.”
“A feature of 2009 is our school concerts. It has been great working with the schools and we have many more concerts coming up throughout this year and into 2010. Our next School concert is at Havannah Primary School in Congleton in June”
“The band are all volunteers from all walks of life. Like all brass bands they give up their own time to play. Rehearsing and meeting this busy schedule is a big commitment, but we think it is worthwhile.”
The band will give a free open air concert in Warrington town centre on July 4 and will be back for a Police Memorial Day Service on September 20. The third visit to Warrington will be for a Carol Service on December 13.
