TWO former college students from Warrington, now training to be aircraft mechanics in the Royal Air Force, returned to campus to inspire current students with similar ambitions.Andy Dowset and Dave Bannon both recently left Priestley College to enrol on a two-year training programme at RAF Cosford in Shropshire.
Both had completed a two year BTEC programme in Public Services while at Priestley and were happy to share their experiences with the current crop of teenagers who were taking part in a training session run by the RAF.
Andy said: “It was really nice to visit the college and meet up with the staff and students and also share our thoughts with them about the process involved with joining the RAF.”
Course leader Colin Whittaker said: “Having Andy and Dave back on campus for the day was great for all of the current students, many of whom have aspirations to have a career in the armed services – their presence gave an example of what potentially can be achieved once their Public Services course comes to an end.”
