A day to celebrate war veterans

ARMED Forces Day, sometimes known as “Veteran’s Day”, will be celebrated in Warrington with a spectacular day of fun – thanks to a local Gulf War veteran.
David Morrison, who served in the first Gulf War with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, has organised a day of music, dance and fun at the Alford Hall, in Manchester Road.
Armed Forces Day is on Saturday, June 27 – but the occasion will be marked in Warrington from Monday, June 22 when a flag will be raised at Alford Hall.
The day will start at 12 noon with plenty of family fun, including a bouncy castle, tombola, dance troupe, six live bands, etc.
David said: “I was surprised to find nothing was planned for the day in Warrington so I decided to get something organised myself.
“It’s not an occasion like Remembrance Day – it’s a day to have some fun.
“Everyone is offering their services free and the fun will go on until midnight.
“We will be raised money for the National Gulf Veterans’ and Families Association – the only charity for Gulf War veterans.”
Tickets cost £3 in advance, or £4 at the door. More details are available from David on 01925 637474 or 07931 727255 or email [email protected]
